Can't connect to mac anymore

Hi there,

I tried connecting my Kobo to my mac with MacOS 26 Tahoe installed but it's not apprearing up on the computer.
I tried whatever KOBO is suggesting, change the cable, check the port, charge it fully,... nothing works.
  • The Kobo show a computer is connected and asks to trust, which I tap. It then shows the 'connected' screen.
  • Cable is OK, doesn't work with any other cable or the original.
  • My girlfriends exact same type (Kobo Libra Colour) is not connecting as well.
  • Both e-readers connect just fine with the same cables on a windows laptop.
  • This is the first time trying to connect after updating to MacOS 26 Tahoe.
  • No, restaring my computer, nor restarting my e-reader helped.

So... Since I never had problems before updating to MacOS 26, I suspect it's MacOS Tahoe that's causing this. Anyone else having problems?

No, I just connected successfully under Tahoe, but my setup is a little different.

MacOS 26.0.1
Calibre 8.9
Kobo Libra 2, FW 4.38.23171

Does the Kobo mount on your desktop?
Do you see your Kobo listed as an external drive if you open Disk Utility?

No, it's not under diskutility or listed anywhere else as an external drive, it's not mounted at all.

Well, resetting NVRAM solved it temporarily.
After the computer started up I got the e-reader connected.

After disconnecting (properly ejecting), it doesn't connect again untill I restart the computer. So basically every time I want to connect my Kobo, I have to restart my computer first or it will not connect.

The only two further suggestions I can think of as things to try:
- connect through a hub, not directly
- install NickelMenu and see if the force USB connection function solves it

I'm putting off installing Tahoe so am speaking from general principles here, not personal experience
