Cat hair and the touch screen

I'm owned by a cat who suddenly is in need of a lot of pets when I'm reading. Of course I'm required to oblige. Unfortunately, she sheds a lot, and sometimes the hairs end up on the screen of my Aura HD. When this happens, it somehow messes up the touch screen so that touching the middle of the screen ends up activating buttons on the edge. Restarting fixes this. Does anybody else have this happen? Any tips for dealing with it? |

I have a pug that sheds quite a lot. But I've somehow managed to keep his fur off the H2O screen.

The Aura HD has an infra-red touch screen so the cat hair can be interfering with the light paths. About the only thing I can suggest is to make sure you clean all the hairs off the screen including under the edge of the bezel. I used to use a brush and blower that belonged to my camera care kit (similar to this one on Amazon but about 5 decades older) https://www.amazon.ca/Cleaning-Inclu...dp/B08NDZYXWP/.

If at all possible, you might want to think about getting a new Kobo with a capacitive screen. That would certainly make your reading life easier. I'm shared between 3 cats, also often in need of petting, but their hair have no impact on my ereaders, all of which have capacitive screens.

Keep a wet rag handy to wipe the screen? Get a flea comb and comb the cat regularly to reduce the shedding. |

You could also keep canned air nearby to blow off the cat hairs when necessary, but the noise from it probably wouldn't be appreciated by your owner. The bulb blower DNSB suggested would work and be much less objected to.

Hairspray? Is it still a thing? My sister used it in the 1970s to shoot down flying stuff such as moths and flies. |

Well, every cat needs a slave, so that won't do either. The humans should get rid of those silly devices that interfere with their main duties, i.e. serving their owners. There was much less whining in the good old days of paper books. (Yes, I'm trying to type all this while obediently petting one of my masters/mistresses). |
