Hi there

IHi there, I was wondering if there is a way to check percentage read on Calibre. My kindle has a demon in it and it wont go back to the home screen for any measurable length of time. I may have to get a new one but I don't know where I'm up to in any/all of my books.

Hello and welcome to MobileRead!

In Calibre, no. The reading progress is not stored in the book, but in an auxiliary file in the "Sidecar" folder associated with the book, which Calibre knows nothing about. You can manually copy the .sdr folders to your new device and possibly that will do what you want (I haven't tried it myself). Note that it won't probably work if the books have DRM.
