kepub conversion not available on calibre 5.2(64bit)

Just downloaded latest Calibre version - 5.2.

All my Kobo plug-ins also updated - KePub Metadata Reader, KePub Metadata Writer, Kobo Books, Kobo Utilities and Kobo Touch Extended.

However, on Calibre Convert Books there is no output option for KEPUB.

Is there something I am missing or is the new software not recognising the Kobo Touch Extended plug-in. Any help or advice would be greatly welcome.

I am doing a lot more reading on my Kobo Aura One in this bizarre current world situation. Thanks.

That actually sounds like it is working correctly. You don't list the Kepub Output plugin as installed. That is needed to convert a book kepub using the calibre conversion. But, you probably don't really want to do that. As you have installed the KoboTouchExtended driver, it will transform your epubs to kepubs when the book is being sent to the device. This is what I would recommend for most people who want to read kepubs on Kobo devices.

But, if you only want to read some books as kepubs (probably books with images or footnotes), then you should install the Kepub Output plugin and do a conversion for these books before sending them to your device.

Similar issue here for Calibre 5.2, I've been using the method you said for multiple years, I just updated Calibre and plugin(KoboUtilities if I remembered it correctly), after that I connect my Kobo Forma with Calibre, sent 3 ebooks to Kobo Forma, none of them is converted into kepub.epub file in the device(all of them are epub formats in the device), this happened a few times in the past, I only need to replug and resent the books again, it will be OK. But this time, I tried multiple times, it never converts them into kepub.epub format.

I tried to delete one ebook file which was already converted into .kepub.epub file in the previous version of Calibre from device using Calibre, unplug->replug, and sent it to the device, it failed to convert it into .kepub.epub(only epub format in the device), so I guess it is the problem of new Calibre or maybe the new plugin, I'm not sure.

*UPDATE:*
After I restart my PC and disable PowerToys, and resent the ebooks again, those file are .kepub.epub again, weird.

Thanks, Davidfor, for solving the problem. Everything is working fine.
It seems so simple but not to a computer idiot like me. Thanks again.
Regards
Alex

That suggests to me that the installation of calibre 5.2 wasn't complete until after the reboot. That can happen if calibre is running at the time you do the install. I don't think disabling PowerToys would have done anything, unless it was needed to complete the installation. I haven't used it for a very long time, but there is a conflict between PowerToys and calibre installation. Though there is apparently an update to PowerToys that fixes this.

There has been an occasional problem where these plugins were not loaded properly after updating calibre. Restarting calibre an extra time usually fixed this. I'm hoping the changes in calibre 5.2 will solve this problem permanently.
