I added a new font and my Forma is letting me use advanced options (!)

Hi

I have a KOBO LIBRA.
Today I stole the TIMES NEW ROMAN fonts coming from my OPEN OFFICE program (or windows??) and installed them inside my LIBRA using the proper procedure and renaming all of the four the files.

I have no idea why, but those Times New Roman fonts ended up becoming the one and only custom font I have on the device that let me use advanced options.

Does anybody here have any idea why those fonts behave like that?
Is there any of you experts interested into investigating that?

There is a patch which enables the advanced options for custom fonts.

Read carefully. It worked without the patch, he said :

Yes. I think that Kobo must have shipped with 'Times New Roman' as a built-in font somewhere in the dim and distant past. Certainly before my time with Kobo.

The code remnants are still in the current firmware so TNR is still treated as 'special'.

In case you're interested Delima, Rockwell and Felbridge are similarly special.

Yes, I know. I got the impression he didn't know about the advanced font control patch. That's why I mentioned it.

Yup, I remember in the pre-patch days renaming the Charis SIL (my go to font at the time) Delima to gain the controls

mistery solved!
And I will look into the other fonts you mentioned for sure.

My sight doesn't work fine with custom fonts with no advanced options, hence adding fonts is pretty useless for me.

PS: I don't feel confidend into installing the unlock advanced option software. I am not that good with programs.

You should look into the patch process even still. It sounds complicated but it’s really not that hard. Most of it is changing no’s to yes’s and putting two files in the right place
