Calibre issues - Missing libraries and problem loading books from new library

Hi. I am actually posting about an issue on behalf of a good friend of mine who has been a long time Calibre user, like myself.

Recently, after having not used her calibre for a few weeks, which is rare for her, she opened her calibre which was updated to the latest version. However, she found that her libraries were no longer there, which was very strange as this has never before occurred with her calibre.

She explained the problem to me as follows; though the libraries seem to have disappeared on her calibre, all her books are still in their respective calibre folders with the same name in documents on her computer, but just not showing on calibre. She can't seem to point calibre to her folders as it would not load. She instead created a new library adding the books in them but when clicking the e-book viewer to open in calibre she found that the non DRM books won't load, and the DRM ones show an error saying the book is locked by DRM. She never had a problem opening either one before.

She has tried a system restore a number of times but to no avail, and the same issue remained and has since uninstalled her calibre after growing frustrated with it and being unable to find any help on it.
