Any way to alter the Forma's Comfort Light?
Hi there!
I'm trying to decide between the Forma and the Aura One. I didn't expect to like it so much, but the Forma has really grown on me. The screen is really nice, the ergonomics are pretty nice, etc. My only problem is that the frontlight is such a weird color. The Aura can get to a reddish-orange color that I really enjoy. But the Forma's frontlight, with the "Natural Light" settings turned all the way up, is this weird almost greenish color. Is there any way to change it? The Forma seems like a really great device, but the color settings are a total dealbreaker for me. |

Greenish? Huh. That's... weird, as, in fact, one of the difference between the One and the Forma is that there is *no longer* a green LED involved in the mix
![]() It definitely can't go as red as the One, I'll readily give you that, but greenish? Nope, can't see it, sorry :/. EDIT: Here's how mine looks, as a comparison (since I assume you currently do have both a One and a Forma in front of you), with a few green & red items in the mix for comparison. As always, take this with a grain of salt, because taking meaningful pictures of an eInk screen is kind of hard ;p. Plus, middle of the day, bright sunlight, so I had to push everything to the max to actually pick up a tone, and not get it mangled by white balance adjustments. EDIT²: Don't worry about the veiny folds around the buttons. I may have dissolved the glue a bit after getting a bit heavy handed with isopropyl alcohol during a cleaning session ;p. You can only vary the intensity of the natural frontlight and the overall brightness. There is no way to change the color. Unfortunately, even within the same model line, there can be some variation in the color from one device to the next. I have a Kobo Clara and a Kobo Aura One. At the highest setting, the Clara is sort of sepia-colored, unlike my Aura One's very reddish orange.

Yeah, I'd concur on the "sepia" qualifier
![]() And unlike the Aura One, we indeed lost the ability to control the color mix manually, LED-by-LED (under Nickel, that's hidden in the Dev menu, but is readily accessible under KOReader). We're left with the 10 steps available, and that's it. Last edited by NiLuJe; 06-29-2019 at 12:29 PM. |
