Intro: PsyDocJoanne

Well, when I was just lurking here at MR and posting every now and then, I felt mostly fine about not having posted an introduction thread...but now that I've started organizing the book club, I thought it might be wise to let folks know a little bit about me!

Anyway, I live in Weston, FL, which is a greater Miami/Ft. Lauderdale suburb. I work at the University of Miami as a psychologist. I'm primarily a researcher, but I do some clinical work as well. I'm married with several 'children'--a Pekingese, a tabby cat, two birds (a quaker parrot and a caique), and some assorted freshwater fish. When I have free time, I love to read (duh!), play flute, take salsa lessons, and drive my car around just for fun!

I got into ebooks about a year or so ago, after my sister in law got a Kindle. I ultimately decided on a Sony 505, but I love her just the same

My favorite genre for reading is science fiction, but I'm also a fan of authors like Barbara Kingsolver, early Stephen King, and Jonathan Franzen. I'm also a sucker for true crime books and anything (fiction or nonfiction) that deals with psychology or psychiatry.

Oh yeah...and I'm really glad to have found such an awesome group of folks here at MobileRead! Nice to meet you all!
