PDF to EPUB resizing problems

I'm trying to convert a 2 columns pdf into epub. Before I used k2pdfopt achieving a good result obtaining a 1 column pdf and after I converted it into epub with Calibre.
The epub output is quite good but I can't resize fonts.
Do you have some advices?
Thanks Max

Do read the sticky about PDF at the top of this forum

Resize issues (text) are usually because what you see is an IMAGE of text

You need to OCR those images.
IMHO 2 column is a mess to OCR / convert

You are right I see that EPUB contains images instead of text and I don't understand why, because the PDF source file contains text.

What's wrong with the 1 column PDF (or the 2 column one), most devices can read PDF's. IMO the effort to required to convert Fixed Layout PDFs to Reflowable EPUB is rarely worth the effort.

If it's just one or two tables in largish book, I take the PDF to MS Word and recreate the tables it (often from scratch), and then convert the DOCX to EPUB (you could use LO Writer similarly). The calibre DOCX Input module handles 'simple' tables quite well.

I agree...but I recently discovered the Okular pdf viewer. I don't know what the magic is, but on several pdf's that I thought were just pictures, this viewer has been able to pull out text. I know it's not doing OCR. But it does have a setting that says something like "ignore pdf security settings". But yeah, it's page by page, panel by panel; you need a lot of patience.
