I bought a Kindle Voyage and transferred a few books to AZW and it's pretty to read. I'm keeping the wifi off for general use and sideloaded books with Calibre. Collections don't seem to transfer over and I can see books or collections. I can't see series. Am I missing something or is this just how it is? I have a lot of books some with dozens of books in a series. Not knowing the order is very frustrating. I don't want to add book at a time as that is defeating the point of having hundreds of books on me. I'm tempted to rename books with the series in the name but that is a lot of work. Hoping someone has a suggestion. |

The Kindle does not display, or even see series info that you put into Calibre. Most people change the titles of books like: Series xxx, number 01 - Book title. Or something similar. That way, if you sort in alphabetic order, they will display in order. Make sure to use the leading zero. ETA: the series metadata is not supported in .mobi format. |

Collections can be created on the Kindle itself, albeit in a clumsy and awkward manner, but the hacks that allowed you to manage them in bulk no longer work -- this is solely because we don't have a jailbreak. (You can still jailbreak, you just need to use the serial port, a non-trivial task.) The other option is to just show series info in the book. The mobipocket formats (MOBI7 and KF8/AZW3) do not support series as a metadata field, however, you can insert the series in the title. That is what many people, myself included, do. See in calibre: Preferences ==> Import/Export ==> Metadata plugboards As long as you have the series info properly filled out in calibre, the titles of books will be automatically updated with the series when you send-to-device. My plugboard: Code: {title}{#subseries:| (|, }{#subseries_index:|Book |)}{series:| (|, }{series_index:|Book |)} EDIT: Yes, that means you probably want to delete my grayed-out custom columns, unless you wish to duplicate my setup -- else you will get a template error.) Shows up as "title (subseries, Book #)(series, Book #)" Last edited by eschwartz; 03-07-2015 at 11:26 PM. |

Having never done this, is this the correct way to do it? I'm not sure which Kindle to choose for the latest Paperwhite, so I chose any device. [Image violates guidelines for size - MODERATOR] Last edited by eschwartz; 03-07-2015 at 11:28 PM.

Perfect! I too choose to apply that rule to all format/device combos. |

Dr. Drib -- is that a problem if the image was in a spoiler tag? Because if so I can think of several calibre plugin threads for example which have been violating the rules for years.

Yeah, cover view just shows whichever picture you downloaded, it doesn't even have to have a title. |

Result, when I sent a book to my Kindle PW2: PLUGBOARD TEMPLATE ERROR Value: unknown field #subseries. Any advice gratefully received. Last edited by eschwartz; 03-07-2015 at 11:28 PM.

You have to take out the code in grey, that's his custom column (see the first post this code appears).
