Kindle Fire 6 has TTS and lots of voices to choose from. Kindle Fire 6 is $99 for 8GB so it's really cheap. Kindle Fire HD 6, 7, HDX all have the same TSS and same voices. Quote:

All iPads have very good TTS, as well as audio description of other visual elements on the screen. iPads can be used "out of the box" by blind users.

Since "disabled" doesn't say too much, I assume you're talking about "visually impaired" people, because of the TTS. Well, there are better alternatives, and apparently a much greater diversity, namely AudioBooks. That's first. Secondly, TTS might work with English. But when coming to other languages, it simply is so funny, that an entire episode of Gear was dedicated to Navigation systems and their funny pronunciation. |

For me its both. Touch screens make my fingers hurt from the arthritis & I have vision problems. There are times on my K3 I go from reading to listening & back again.

tts isnt just good for people visual impaired, its also great for other types of disabilities too. i wasnt just basing the thread on people with visual impaired vison when i started it. thanks for the feedback, since equipment cost an arm and a leg if ur disabled i was hoping that this thread would show you dont need to pay thousefnds for all equipment. |
