Opening to last book in library
I like when Calibre opens on the latest book I added. But for some reason when I open it up it has been opening to the last book in my Library (Z). How do I get it to open to the latest book I added, like it used to?

CURRENT Sort order affects this. Date is the field that represents the RECORD creation date (highest value being the usual). Notice I used RECORD (as in DB record). Books can be added later to empty-book records for the title. You can FORCE a start up sort by using the tweak for that Preferences: tweaks (I will leave browsing/SEARCH 'tweaks' to you) |

Calibre (startup) always Opens to Record position 1 The sort determines what is in the first row Or are you talking about some other part of Calibre? Viewer? |

Something similar happened to me this week. Somehow I changed the View Manager configuration for my default view and my books were not sorting on startup as I expected them to sort. |

It is doing it again. I have not changes any settings. Calibre open to the last author in my library (Z). This is getting frustrating. Last time it happened, it fixed itself the next day. It has been a week now.

I have looked through all the tweets and still can't figure out why this is happening. It opens to the last Author (Z). I can all books and close when exit, but when I open up, it goes back to Z.
Please help. |

As the others have said, Calibre remembers the sort order used in your library when it is closed and uses that when you reopen calibre. There is a tweak to force a sort or you can use the View Manager.
But, a possibility is a bug in the initial release of calibre 2.20. This caused some library specific settings not to be saved properly. I thought this only affected settings for plugins, but it might have affected other settings. There was a rerelease of 2.20 after a day or so. Downloading it now and reinstalling might solve this problem. |

Thanks, I will try that.
OK, just reinstalled 2.20, same thing. I went back and installed 2.19 and same problem. Last edited by Bobioden; 03-04-2015 at 06:28 PM. |

And what was the cause? When people have helped you, they want to know what the issue was.

All I did was right click the Date Column, and select the Sort on Date -Descending. For some reason the Author was selected as Ascending under the Author Column. I was told to check out the sort options, but no one suggested on how to do it. Also to look at the tweeks, but again, had no clue as to where to look. The only helpful post was by davidfor who suggested I reinstall 2.20. |

I guess people probably assumed that you'd know that you sort on a column by clicking on its header, because that's a common UI convention in modern operating systems. |
