New Start Point
I have a feeling that this has been asked by many noobies like myself, but I can't find the info.
Y'know how a mobi (and I guess, and epub) book doesn't open at the start of a book? ie: it starts at chapter 1, but there's a prologue before that. I'd like to set it up to start at the prologue. Is there an easy way to fix this? If it's been addressed in easy to follow non technical-ese, please point me to where it is. If not. the easiest explanation would be most helpful. Thanks so much, cuz I really need some ![]() ![]() ![]() Scott |

It has been discussed recently in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241642 and https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241727.

Hi,
I tried to understand what the last added item (translated: Text: First "real" content page) did. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems to add an entry to the guide subsection of the contents.opf file. See joint screenshot. Though it is called a "text" entry, I made it target in fact the cover page (named also confusingly title-page by Calibre when it creates it...). I put a red comment on the right of this entry. I call it A entry. You can see also another entry named "couverture" which has been added by the Calibre editor after I inserted a new entry on the top of the toc.ncx. I call it B entry. As this latest B entry has not been efficient to fool iBooks, Kobo (sometimes), I wonder if the newest A entry will be enough to force iBooks to begin a book with the cover-page (thinking that it is the first "text" page). I do not have iBooks to check it. It seems to work with Kobo. Last edited by roger64; 07-06-2014 at 11:00 AM. |
