One thing I noticed in reading the blog about using it - -
The user needs 'EDITOR=' set in the kTerm environment.

It could be that only 1 of the first 5 people figured that one out.

You might mention that requirement (having 'EDITOR=' set to the editor intend to be used in the kTerm environment) if you intend to edit any of the entries.

Edit:
Another possible 'gotcha' if using nano for the editor on the Kindles -
Kindles are utf-8 devices -
nano depends on ncurses -
ncurses needs a special configuration / build to handle utf-8 (the utf-8 version is ncursesw).

The above information borrowed from the Buildroot mailing list (which is broken at the moment, but they will be fixing nano/ncurses(w) RSN).

Just use a configure option to enable "wide character" support on all of them, and it should all 'just work'.

Hmm...
This might be a 'hidden problem' with some of the other add-ons that have been built, and no one has reported the problem.

I'll give it a try when I have some time. I used to use Google Reader all the time and was very disappointed when they shut down. The python reader rawdog does work, just not really what I was looking for. Lets see how this goes.

still cant convince the w3m to show pictures in kterm (this is most likely a shortcoming of the terminal) also had no joy with a rebuilt xterm... (pictured) will keep digging around but joy factor is rapidly waning...

so.. looks like a no-images build is as good as people are gonna get without someone helping me out.

make a "urlfile" file containing the feeds like

(these first two are obviously DUMMY examples... put real ones)
echo "http://feed.url/thing.xml" >> /mnt/us/extensions/newsbeuter/feeds.txt
echo "http://feed2.url/thing.xml" >> /mnt/us/extensions/newsbeuter/feeds.txt
echo "http://lifehacker.com/vip.xml" >> /mnt/us/extensions/newsbeuter/feeds.txt

(or however you want to make the file...)

then call the app like

cd /mnt/us/extensions/newsbeuter; usr/bin/newsbeuter -u ./feeds.txt

(or full paths)
/mnt/us/extensions/newsbeuter/usr/bin/newsbeuter -u /mnt/us/extensions/newsbeuter/feeds.txt


press r in the app to reload the feeds.

press ENTER on one to load the feeds...

pressing r to reload the feeds is a MUST DO thing...

you can setup preferences to do it by default and stuff.. but I tested it with that configuration last night/this morning and it worked okay
