I have a brand new, still sealed in box Sony PRS T1 black available. Asking $100 plus shipping costs. It's never been used.

Sony Canada is selling refurbished T1s with 1-year warranty and cover for $79, shipping included but charges tax. Total is about $90. This may be hurting your chances of selling at this price.

Probably but this is new not a refurb and it's actually for a good friend of mine. That's what she wants, so that's what I put.

You're just following orders, but I think your friend is being unrealistic. Factory refurb is as good as new (hence the same warranty). I did look in here before placing my order at Sony. Pay less, get more was hard to resist.

I think the price is quite reasonable for a brand new black T1. It would definitely sell for that much on ebay.

Would you like me to remove the offer here then? We were hoping to avoid paying the eBay fees that go along with selling there. Not in any nefarious way, just that if we can sell it somewhere with no fees it would be better. There's no fees here.

Try your local Craigslist, no fee and maybe no shipping if local buyer.

You may continue to have the unit for sale here - it is your choice.

However, given that you feel it will sell for you (or for your friend's price), then ebay may, indeed, be your better option.

I was just pointing out that T1s direct from Sony Canada are going for less than that price. A Pottermore T2 can be had for $99.99 plus tax from Sony. It might take some time to sell at your friend's price.

No trouble. But you need to recognize that new is not the same as a refurb. Refurbs may have scratches and marks on it. New ones don't. That's a big difference. I would not be happy with a unit that had scratches on it. Nor would many other people.

I've never seen a Sony refurb that wasn't pristine, but the critical element is the one-year warranty. A refurb with a warranty compared to new with no recourse? There's no comparison. Plus, the refurb comes with a cover and it's cheaper. Your friend might as well be realistic.

Yep, that's my point. People can be pretty unrealistic about what price they can get for used technology. If this T1 was purchased when it was a new model and if it wasn't on sale, it was $139 plus tax. About $158 with tax (assuming it was purchased in Ontario). At that time, a hundred bucks would have been a good price and easy to get if one was reselling. Now it's an older item (still great, though; I chose it over a T2 because I prefer the feature set) and can be had for $79 with a warranty and cover. I just wanted to let the OP know that that price is not going to get it sold.

Guys, contrary to popular belief, there are more countries outside the US & Canada that would want this and some of those people even read these boards. Some even prefer the T1 to the T2. Enough debate please. Sony can afford to lose money when they want to unload things. My friend doesn't have Sony's deep pockets nor does she have to meet or match their price. She's not Walmart.
