Ordering a Kindle

For those of us who have ordered and received your new kindle: approximately how long did it take for amazon to get your new kindle to you?

Which Kindle, does it matter? In my case, I ordered the non-HD Fire when they had the last sale for $129, and received it the next day. (I have Prime, and chose free 2 day shipping)

No it doesn't and I deliberately left that part out because I wanted to include all amazon ereaders.

Those that are not members of prime how long has it taken?

It takes exactly as long as any other Amazon product. There's nothing special about Kindles when it comes to shipping (if they're in stock, of course).

I don't have prime and whenever I order anything over $25, I always select free shipping. Items are normally shipped 2-3 days after ordering.

And starting with the time that you placed the order to the day that it arrived in your mail box how long did it take? I would imagine three days for the processing plus seven days for delivery, making the time elapsed ten days.

It depends on how far you are from the processing center they ship the item out of. I've received items the next day, even before I had prime.

Good info, Have you received a kindle that you ordered the next day or does it generally take a week to get it to you.

I had a forced upgrade some time ago, my kindle three died on the way to work (the switch broke down and I could no longer turn the thing on) and I was at a rather exciting part of a novel thus I had to run around town and find a store to sell me a new one. It wasn't the cost that I minded so much as the running around town that I minded. Next time I am going to do a more graceful upgrade and take my time of it. I am wondering how long I would have been without a kindle to finish that book if I had ordered one rather than running around town trying to find something.

Amazon will give you a date estimate on delivery you don't even have to complete the order. For non prime it's pretty darn accurate. Keep aware the closer to Xmas the longer it could take though because it comes USPS usually. The post office is going to pretty backed up this Holiday with all the closings it's had this year.

Amazon shipments don't really have an initial "processing" stage that adds additional time before delivery unless your item is backordered or something. If it's in stock, then it usually ships within 24 hours if it's a single item. If you order multiple items and instruct Amazon to combine items for shipping when possible (which is cheaper for you), then there might be some lag time while they combine the items. Other than that, as Blossom pointed out, your order submission page will give you the estimated delivery dates for each item, such as:

Quote:
Estimated delivery: Nov. 30, 2012 - Dec. 1, 2012
If you order multiple items, then each item might have different estimated delivery dates.
