Reading Comic Books and Manga

Hi everyone,

I'd appreciate some help. On the Kindle Paperwhite, with the new firmware upgrade (5.3.0) supposedly you can change the page refresh for comic books and manga independently of the page refresh in your other content, but I can't see how to do this. Does anyone know?

Also, according to Amazon, if you double-tap the page in a comic book (or manga, or graphic novel) you enter "panel view." Another double-tap exits panel view. But all it does for me is advance me to the next page.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

If panel view isn't working, and you don't see the animation/fit to screen/page refresh options in the menu inside the book... then your comic/manga is not properly configured.

If you've gotten it from Amazon, I suppose you have to wait for an update? I'm not really sure where you go from there honestly. Sorry!

If you've sideloaded it, you can use the methods in this thread to get them to show up properly.

There may be other ways to do this that I don't know about, but I've used that one and gotten great results. (Note: with the update you don't necessarily have to resize all the images to 758x1024. The fit to screen option can take care of it for you)

Thank you. I did get the book from Amazon so I guess I just need to see if it gets updated.

Does anyone have an example of a comic book/manga with these options? I need to see how it works and also get some screen shots (if possible). Thanks.

Sure thing!

The first one is showing the options you should have in the comic/manga. The second is what a full-screen stretch will look like roughly (I didn't manually resize the images). The third is default panel view -- it shows a fourth of the screen at a time when you double-tap.

I've heard that when you get a comic/manga from Amazon that's fully configured, panel view is actually more customized.

I'd try to see if there's some way you can contact them about requesting an update for the file! As I said, I'm not sure how you go about it, but you should let them know that it's wanted.

Those pictures are great, thank you! Is this a book you bought from Amazon? I'd like to get similar screenshots but I don't want to waste money on a book that doesn't have the manga features.

Thanks for your help,
