Page turn slowdown in 2.1.5 at end of book

I just finished a book - probably the first one of any length since I got 2.1.5. It was 200+ pages long. Towards the end of the book, page turns got VERY slow. As bad as 2.0 was.

Opening a new book - another longer one (350+ pages), it is once again fast. I hope this isn't going to be a "feature" of the new firmware ![]() (using a KT ) |

It is just you. I just finished a side loaded ePub and all page turns including the final one were speedy.

I have not encounter that kind of problem on my Glo (read 6 side-loaded epub on it, each having at least 300 pages or even more, reading a 7th). I don't know if it matters, but I always convert them from epub to epub via calibre before sending them to my Glo

I believe that the Kobo devices load up sections of the book into memory, and I believe that the sections of the book are determined by the html files inside the epub. Perhaps the final section of the book was very long/large, or it contained a lot of media?

I wanted to pop on and confirm that I finished a 257 page sideloaded epub on my Touch yesterday (with 2.1.5 firmware) and didn't see any slowdown towards the end of the book.

I am up to page 200 and something of a new 350 page book, and it is still going fast. Must just be a funny formatted book. Hope so anyway.

Just hit the same issue, but with quite small (130 pages) book. I think it's book specific issue. The difference between this one and the others I read without problem is, that it enforces page formatting (margins and line spacing), which others don't.

Not sure about the page formatting. Mine was from feedbooks and they normally are well setup, so I never tried to change the margins or line spacing.

Just finished a 400+ page book with no problems. I strip all the page formatting I can in calibre before sideloading.

What a strange problem. I just finished reading a lengthy novel myself but didn't experience any slowdown.

Read several books with no problem. But just had to replace one book as I had an odd one where the last third of the book was missing. Got a proper full copy of it in mobi format and converted it with Calibre to epub. Then jumped to page 120 to continue reading (180 pages altogether). The jump took several minutes, then the page turns were as slow as with firmware 2.0. This hasn't happened with any other books. Also after finishing, I brought up the browser and my KT rebooted. The next book didn't have any problems. Also, I can't be completely sure as I didn't notice before reading the book, but the battery seems a lot lower than it should be. Which would be consistant with a process going haywire and slowing everything down...

I'm wondering if it's a specific format problem, or maybe the jump function that's not working quite right. |

When I bought my Glo I was about 2/3 way in a book of about 350 pages. I put it on my Glo via Calibre and used the slide bar at the bottom of the device to go where I had left it on my Touch (side-loaded epub sent to device via Calibre like almost all my books) and had no problem or slow down... It's a very strange behavior you are experiencing...

Maybe it's not about being near the end of the book, but the amount of time you've been reading without switching the device off/to sleep?
