How to uninstall previous Calibre completely?
May I ask how can I uninstall Calibre from Windows Vista, so if I install it again it doesn't recognized any previous settings, database, library, etc?
I have not been successful doing that. Every time, I have installed it again, previous library and settings are back.

I found the solution.
Before uninstall go to:
Preferences->Miscellaneous->Open calibre configuration directory
In my case it was in C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Calibre

Delete Calibre directory after uninstall with appwiz.cpl

A fresh installation fixed my problem with epub-viewer (my favorite part of Calibre). Before, for some strange reason, it was taking up to a minute to open. Now it is right away responsive.

Could you please tell me if you did this on a pc? Calibre is raising havoc on a pc laptop and I want it OFF!

Linux does not have a C:

What does that tell you

Havoc ? You must be doing something unexpected, there a close to a million Calibre Windows installs. Very little problem, and what is discovered is usually an interaction with Security suites that is fixed with a bit of configuration of their exclude settings

No The only difference in Windows is where the (hidden folder)configuration settings are stored.
Ducks is running XP on 1 desktop and 1 laptop

Clicking the Configuration folder Button in Preferences: Miscellaneous will take you to where YOUR (installation) configuration is

Thanks. FWIW, I've never had a moment's problem with calibre.

I wonder if something else may be causing the problems. Perhaps calibre's interaction with the security program as you suggested.

Not really, You have no issue other than RAGE directed at Calibre, which we can not fix .
Security software interactions, usually just keep calibre from working.

You have totally failed to clearly describe your problem, include the exact error message(s)

Also a slightly more complete specification of the 'Laptop' might help.
XP (what SP), RAM, Free Disk space. Any other non-standard (not supplied with the original distribution) equipment or software.

In almost all cases, it is combinations that don't play nice together, cause grief.

Actually, I don't have rage- I am a bit frustrated. Sorry I did not clearly describe my problem. Got it. I'll look into the the security software, but I have to leave that on the laptop. Since Calibre has been downloaded, I can't use my email either, amongst other issues. If I supply more info pertaining to what you indicated- then can you help out?
Although I'm getting a bad feeling that I cannot uninstall this software.

Calibre does not affect Email. You have a OVERALL computer problem that you need advanced help with.


We are NOT advocating full removal or full disabling security software. What we are suggesting : is to (with full knowledge) exclude specific programs and folders (all prospective/new calibre contents SHOULD pass through a folder that has normal scanning. Once it a gotten a clean bill of health, it can be added to the (Excluded) Library.

use windows system restore - go back to a date / time before you installed calibre - easy peasy.
