I've been on a lot of forums over the years, but I just wanted to note that I think that the members of the MobileRead forums have the most interesting ones around.

Sometimes I get as much enjoyment from their creativity of design as I do from the actual posts themselves.

I changed to this one, maybe a week or so ago, because Iw as getting tired of my original avatar. I plan to change it again for 2012, though, and will wait until as close to the New Year as possible.

Since the thread is about Avatars, why would you want to go from a gif
to a jpg? Going the other way around would make more since.

If you want I can walk you through the steps to change it. Basically you
just "save as" jpg.

Almost any image editing program should be able to do this.

Gimp can be a huge and confusing program for such a simple task.

If you are handy with the command line, then Image Magick's 'convert' tool will do that and a whole lot more. I'm pretty sure you can find a Windows version.
