Lightbulb Kindle - Automatically remove/archive old news ?

When you have a paid subscription to a Kindle newspaper or magazine, yesterday's newspaper or previous magazine issue are sent to "Periodicals: Back issues" or "Archived Items" automatically when a new issue arrives.

Is there any way to do this with Calibre generated newspaper/magazine issues? It would be great not to have to manually delete them every day.

I had searched here for a solution and did not find it, but tried again and found it!

The easiest way to automatically get rid of yesterday's feed is to change your recipe to include:

timefmt = ''

(two single quotes) which stops Calibre putting the date in the title. When the feed gets received each day the Kindle 3 automatically archives yesterday's to "Periodicals: Back Issues". Seven issues are retained in this folder before the oldest gets deleted.

I tried this right away - and it works!

If you have set your output profile to kindle in calibre, the titles will not have the date in them anyway, irrespective of timefmt

The Calbre program automatically detects that my Kindle is attached.

I have just tried to find a output profile to kindle setting which I could change, and could not find it. Where is this located?

BTW Your program adds so much extra usefulness to my Kindle! Wonderful!

Just run the welcom wizard by right clicking on the Preferences button and select kindle as your device.

I had not tried that. Now it is done!

I suggest that this setting could also be included in the normal setting menu. This would be more intuitive.

My Kindle so stuffed with old news feeds from Calibre that I had to give up. I can't spend time deleting hundreds of these one by one. How can I get rid of all the old ones once and for all?

Switch to Device (Library) view
I think Sort on titlewill group similar titles.
Select a bunch just as you would in a file manager on your PC.
Tap DEL.
