Does your 350 take ages to power on?

If i don't read my book over the weekend and it powers off (not sleep), when I switch on it boots up quite quickly, but then takes literally 4 to 5 minutes to 'index' my content. I have 1300 books on there, nothing else. every time? even though no content has changed?! from one power off, to the next, i'll simply be on an alternate page of the same book. my g/f has a 505 and now refuses to upgrade because of this. which isn't good as there's a T1 xmas present in the cupboard right now 0_0. did i miss a bit of configuration/setting or some such? |

Never - not unless youm going away for a few days without yo 650 [why would you ?], - never power off,or leave "open" on page you 're reading, but put in sleep mode when you finish reading each night. Holds charge better ["educates" the battery] and actually improves battery life etc... Then, of course, it won't take so long to to re-enter books - cos it doesn't have to anyway- and will open on the page of the book you stopped reading on. And use a wall charger - quicker [ you can leave it on overnight, can't "overcharge" it}, and gives a better charge also. |

My 350 takes about 1 minute to power on with a library of 300 books, so I would say that the time you are experiencing could be possible. After resisting for a long time, I, like carpetmojo, leave the reader in sleep mode. If I take a hit to battery life, it seems to be negligible and I've long ago gotten use to it. On a full charge, I can place the reader on sleep mode and return after a week or more retaining a full charge indication. I now rarely turn the device off. |

Similar... I never turn any of my readers off, just put in sleep/standby mode...

The T1 you have in the cupboard, have you checked it yet? You may want to see some of the other threads about the new T1 and check it out, just to make sure it doesn't have any issues and an exchange will be easier to do now, rather than later. | |

If I load it with as many books, it does the same. I just keep it all on my PC, and just carry around the books I am currently reading.

I have only about 250-300 books on my 350. Today I got my new 350 that I got as my spare (since I hate the T1), and did a comparison. From sleep mode to open to my current book being read, the time between the brand new with nothing on it and my 10 month old with the 250-300 books on it was identical. Powered fully off though and then restarting both, my older 350 with the books on it did take about 12 seconds longer. The progress meter "loading book" on the first page progresses along at the same pace and they reach the home page at the same time, but at that point though is where the extra time comes in for the reader with the books on it. The circular wait icon comes up in the middle of the home page while it's loading everything. But as others have already said, you should always put it in sleep mode after reading, not fully turn it off nor let it sit until it powers itself off. The battery will last several weeks and you never have that wait time to fully restart it. |
