Woman pays $180 for wooden iPad

Looks like these crooks were intent on proving right those Apple critics who argue that fans will buy anything with an Apple logo... Quote:

This episode begs the question - how much would you pay for a wooden iPad? Last edited by afa; 09-04-2011 at 10:56 AM.

I remember the same thing happening with flat-screen TVs a few years ago. I don't know if it's an urban legend or not, but the story was someone would buy a TV that had "fallen off the truck" and once they got it home, the TV turned out to be an oven door.

If the Apple logo and the "apps" were hand-painted, I might part with $30 dollars or so and hang it above the mantle. Tell the story at parties and then break out the evidence when they don't believe you. That sort of thing. Hell, I once paid a buck to see a "six foot man eating chicken" at the carnival—knowing full well that I was going to see a six foot man... and that six foot man was going to be eating fried chicken. But yeah, $180 is a bit out of my price range for an amusing story to tell friends. |

Sadly, my father once bought a couple of jackets out of some guy's trunk. He so enjoys a bargain. All of the paint peeled off the leather jacket after a few months.

After the $180 wooden iPad, the $250 paper laptop (same city) Earlier this week, a woman paid $180 for a wooden iPad in a Spartanburg McDonalds parking lot. Now, I am grateful to a Technically Incorrect reader who sent me to the news that another Spartanburg gadget bargain hunter paid $250 for a laptop in a gas station parking lot. This was an excellent deal, save for the fact that this particular laptop was made of paper. What's the big deal about this story? She got an Apple logo, which is what most people buying Apple fork out their money for anyway. |

Some people can be so gullible. How can you buy anything off a car in the street like that ? If you must, you may want to see that the product is inside the box, also see if the box has a seal which it most certainly has not (even with the real deal inside). Then again when you see some scams online you wonder who could possibly fall for it and yet you have a crowd ready to fall right into it. What the hell, I'm against such scams but people can be so stupid that I've just decided to make a scam myself so here goes: If you wish to have a penis enlargement absolutely guaranteed and if you want an anti virus which I am the only one to provide for the virus that I can detect you are having right now in your computer and if you want to help those starving in Africa send me your money straight to my bank account. All results guaranteed of course. Oh and I almost forgot, my software detects that you are the 1 millionth reader of this message (yes I swear) quick, contact me to claim your prize (I'll need your credit card info for that of course) and last but not least you have won an online lottery, prize is a million Euros. To claim it please send to my account 3000 dollars for the processing of your gains, after reception of that sum, I'll send your prize (again I swear). And remember, if you are stupid enough to fall for this, you deserve to lose whatever money that you involved in the scam. |

my wife works at a bank, once or twice a week people come in for a money order or cashiers check to send to nigeria because of the unclaimed lottery winnings email. its no surprise that dopes fall for the ancient bricks in a vcr box scam.

No wonder!! I just assumed it was a betamax and my vhs tapes just wouldn't work with it. But now that you mention it... it is rather brick-like in appearance.
