Published - Dates

Published dates extracted from sources such as google and amazon give inconsistent results. I have noticed that many books published in various months of 2011 return a published date of Dec 2010.

I would love to know how this can be corrected. Would love to be able to get earliest pub date US

Are you saying that the "sources such as google and amazon" have a date but Calibre doesn't show that date, or are you just saying that the published date information in the sources is bad? There's little that you can do in the latter case, other than select a source with better data.

You could take a look at the sites you've been using.
Maybe they suggest a publishing date of
2011
jan 2011
01 2011
or
01 01 2011

in that case it is possible that a bug in calibre could by mistake present the date as 31-dec-2010

I myself do have the opposite problem.
Books set that fetch a pubdate of jan 2011 are displayed as 2 jan 2011 in stead of 1 jan 2011

Please take a look at the books that are wrong tagged. Can you tell the exact date by looking at the metadata edit screen?

Maybe you can add one of the books here or post the isbn, title and authors and tell us which sources you use to download, so we can reproduce this problem to see what happens
