kindle 3 problems. ? maybe?
I just got a kindle (I think it's a 3), trying to use calibre to connect/manage, but it's not showing up/being detected. under the advanced/debug tab, I find:

['0x1949', '0x4', '0x100', 'Amazon', 'Amazon Kindle', 'B008A0A011221HJ6']]

If I read all this correctly, Linux sees the Kindle just fine, but Calibre looks for a different tag for the device(?) is there a nice way I can update/change/remap this Device?

so I may have found a reasonable solution; the version of calibre that is available for my current version of Ubuntu (Ubuntu 10.04.2) via synaptic seems to be horribly out of date (0.6.42) whereas the calibre website has version 0.7.53.

The short lesson being: if you can't see your ereader in your distro provided version of calibre, go to the website and get a newer version; it might resolve that (and perhaps a whole host of other issues, as well).

Thanks, and hopefully someone else can find this useful at some point.

That does not look like the log from a current version of Calibre! What version are you using? The current verion is 0.7.53.
