Kindle does not recognise internal storage

My Kindle 3 is in a strange state now.

I tried to install a new font.
So I put the new font into the linkfonts folder and made a reboot file.
After I unplugged the Kindle, it did not reboot on its own.
Then I restarted it manually.

When it finished booting, my documents did not show up.
I plugged in and found that they WERE in my Kindle, but the Kindle just failed to load anything from its internal storage. It only showed two dictionaries and said "115 MB Free".

And I cannot uninstall the font hack because Kindle does not recognise any .bin file, either.

Everything else works fine. I can use the 3G and Wifi, visit Kindle store, etc.

Does anyone know what is happening?

@lemontea: Read The Fine Manual.

Short answer: Your font doesn't play nice with the Kindle's software. Use an FT override, or another font.

That happens to me pretty regularly when I install updates. I turn the Kindle off (push the sleep button to the right for about 7 seconds) (the screen will blank) then turn it on again (pull across the sleep tab and let go). That usually works. If it doesn't I do it again =).

If that doesn't work (rare), I restart the Kindle.

So far it's worked - just seems the Kindle needs a while to get used to it's new awesomeness and work out where everything is.

EDIT: Make sure you don't push the button to the right for more than 15 seconds as that will completely reset the Kindle which is a PITA. After 7 seconds the sleep button will flash, then just after that the screen will go blank. Stop pushing across the button. =) Easy - but just thought I should make things clear.

Tried switching it off and on again? I swear, it's worked for me every time. Wait patiently while it's loading your docs (while the little circle is doing it's thing in the menu bar).

@lemontea: If you have access to the Settings menu, then you're doing something wrong if you can't perform an update with a custom .bin. Same thing with the reboot trigger file, unless you're using an outdated version of the hack.

What font is actually used on your Kindle? That sounds slightly fishier than the 'usual' borked fonts... Either get me a ;dumpMessages log, or backup your stuff and do a factory reset if you don't want to bother with figuring it out.

The font hack ran smoothly at first. Then I felt like using another CJK font
so I put LiHei Pro and left other fonts untouched.

when I run ;dumpMessages, the kindle freezes for a few seconds
Then I plug it in, nothing appears in the document folder

It neither reads nor writes anything on the internal storage

@lemontea: You wouldn't happen to have played with Duokan or a root shell at one point?

Also, make sure there's >150MB free on the userstore, the Kindle doesn't deal well *at all* with a full disk.

I installed Duokan a few days ago, but haven't used it ever since.
I have never used root shell

I have done a factory reset, and the userstore is now near empty
problem persists

@lemontea: Weird. I can't say much more without a log dump, other than the fact that Duokan does do crazy stuff with the userstore partition, and the Fonts hack shouldn't even remotely cause anything like this to ever happen... :/.

It does sound like a link in the crazy fuse over loop over fat32 userstore mount chain is broken, and the Duokan scripts do at least alter this in some way (for whatever reason), so you may want to check if everything's working from Duokan...
