At least it isn't another rejection

Are Tim and I crazy for being so excited to receive this for his new book, instead of the usual form letter rejection? Quote:

They know that courtesy and friendliness cost nothing. Did you actually send them a proposal or a book?

Big question: Is this a real publisher or a vanity publisher? If it's a real publisher, great! Looks like a foot in the door -- much better, as people have said, than a "no, thank you". There might be a contract, with all that implies, at the end of it. Time to bounce up and down a little (but not too much until the publisher's check is in your bank; remember, the most important words any publisher can write to you are "pay to the order of..."). If it's a vanity publisher, the only thing they care you can write is your name on the check, so after sufficient pseudo-real posturing, they'll "accept" it and start wanting payment. Flee while you can. |

If it was a Vanity publisher they already would be going for the pocket book, with words like priority publishing to bump the book up the review column or to that effect. Arigato, Nick Davis | |

We used Writer's Market to find them. Sent it to 6. Got 2 no's, 2 wrong email addresses, a very nice "not right now but keep trying," and that email above.

Glad to hear that you're sending the book out in batches - you can die of old age waiting politely to hear from one before you send out the next.

Definitely a positive thing. No guarantee though. I've gotten a few of those that didn't pan out. I'll be crossing my fingers and my eyes for you though! Good Luck!!! |
