New round of Notion Ink's Adam ordering invites

i got mine sometime in the night. I have decided to hold off on that option until we see more in-depth reviews as there are obviously some production issues which need to be separated from incorrect expectations from the PixelQi display versions.

More importantly I want to see the UI work as well as the touch work more consistently than the user videos I've see. Some are fine and other devices seem to have flaky touch response.

I still LOVE the idea of the Adam but it might just be too soon in it's production to invest in a device with no global service program setup. It is not as if Notion Ink could not have contracted with a company like C.R.I.S here in the US to handle any warranty issues. BTW, I don't know if CRIS handles other than camera service but for the DLSR's and lenses I own they have been excellent when given proper support from the manufacturer with parts and service information. Notion Ink, I hope, will head in this direction. But for now I am passing on spending half-a-mega-buck for a device that needs to ship half-way around the globe if a problem develops.

after hearing and reading about for so many years (?) now, it being delayed so many times and the sketchiness of notion ink itself, it's hard not to be somewhat skeptical of the Adam.
still though- that screen!
nice price too (if you have the half-a-mega buck )

I'm kinda surprised there isn't more being written about it now after it's out and after all that hype. seems a little anti-climatic.

Maybe that's because the actual device that shipped was something of an anti-climax after all the hype..?<shrug>

I got my invite recently. However i am failing to see whats so special about it. Feels somewhat like an over-hyped, mediocre movie.
To me it looks and feels just like another Android tablet.
A PixelQi screen may make it just more special.

Not wanting to nitpick, but most devices dont have a global service. So its not really a new thing or a deal breaker.

I have a Dell Streak with 2 yr warranty, but none outside of UK.
None of the DSLRs come with gobal warranty(maybe only Pentax).
I am pretty sure this is so for most of the tablets(except kindle/ipad) and laptops(except Dell-pay extra/Apple).

I got the same invite to order one, even with a pixelqi screen it just seems too little too late now as I bought an ipad and would want a more portable 7" device like the blackberry playbook for my next purchase.
