Kno News
Kno is showing a single display unit now as well as the dual display device they showed previously, apparently to show two price points.
![]() They still claim to have the text book oriented device(S) out before the end of this year. story w/video http://techcrunch.com/2010/09/27/kno...ocused-tablet/ press release Quote:

Assuming a reasonable price point, and the text books you are actually using are on the device, the two panel version looks really impressive.

Looks nice - the sort of thing I want for texts / journals; I'd be interested when it's actually released, if it's available in Aus...

Weight and price. It will have to be cheaper and weigh less than the iPad in order to succeed. Oh, and the ability to add your own material.

Looks like an iPad with a higher res and a pen.
With a glossy IPS sucking down batteries, it's gonna suck for reading. But I guess it's better than nothing ![]() Still waiting for that really high-res matte display that emulates paper, and not a laptop with a keyboard sawed off. EDIT: Watched the video. They are actually concentrating on the "Platform" idea with services, content and workflow meant for students. Still, the form factor is not the best. 6hr battery (mfg specs, reality will likely be less) just doesn't cut it for education, unless all the student chairs have electricity sockets... This screen would be great for PDFs, but the OS would give me a pause. Wish they used Android -- would have saved them much development, and Android 3, which is tablet friendly, is coming to market before this tablet. |

This actually looks quite good, in theory. I'd love something like that for my textbooks, depending on the price.

Looks good. Remains to be seen if they can keep up with a before "end of year release". Looks like we will have plenty of choices by Q1 2011.
