Steve thanks for your donation of reading material for our troops stationed over seas. Thanks to the troops for their service to our country.

Well, this sounds as if people could have known, and action should have been taken. If this turns out to really reflect the overall situation, one would tend to call him more of a usual terrorist than I would have thought. I think that more reports like this one, and maybe unlike this one, are going to be published. One will have ample opportunity to make up one's mind, I suppose...

That he essentially "prayed" before he started shooting isn't necessary relevant-- most mass shooters in the US have been Christians or non-religious, and the Christian ones probably have done a bit of praying of their own before starting.

Unfortunately, a lot of the time, we see what we want to see, and filter the information accordingly. I think that even if the US military investigators came to the conclusion that he really did 'snap', you'd have trouble accepting that yourself DesertGrandma.

You are correct. I would imagine that if the US Military comes to the conclusion that it was a religious/muslim motive, you'd have the same trouble accepting that....and wonder secretly if there wasn't' a little racism involved.

Why would there have been rascism involved? Race has nothing to do with a person's faith.

But no, I would tend to believe the military investigators final conclusions, as they have nothing to gain with any bias: if they say he snapped the army could have accusations thrown that they never supported one of their troops during emotional crisis, but if he was classed as a terrorist then the army might be criticised for not spotting someone so 'obvious'. The army doesn't 'win' with either way, which is why I assume that the final conclusion will be as accurate as possible.

The moderation team decided to close this thread.
