Yes, I'd forgotten about that. But it needs the device to boot to a particular point each time. From memory, that point is starting nickel. If nickel fails to start properly, four times in a row, it prompts to do a factory reset.

Actually it is pickel. pickel is called in the rcS and looks whether nickel left a message the last time before the reboot. If nickel failed to leave this message (resetting a counter to 0) four times in a row, the user is presented with the choice to factory reset the device. If this part of the rcS is not executed (and this is the case if XCSor or KSM are enabled), there is not chance to factory reset the device by pressing the pinhole button.

FOA: greetings to everybody!

ok, ok! I'm now among those who bricked the reader
none of the forum-wide suggested operations worked fo me so I'm now looking for the *.img to re-inject into my kobo (meanwhile I may also take the chance to expand the SD card).
Any help?

Amend my own post:
I believe troubles started after sw upgrade to 3.19.5761 so a previous version would be twice-appreciated

The image was taken immediately after a factory reset. It will do an update from that to the current firmware, or you can intercept that and put whatever you want on it. There shouldn't be an problems with 3.19.5761 on the Glo, so you might want to consider using a new SD card.

put image in a new card and kobo is now back to life.
next step: make it visible to win 10AU but that is part of another thead
