The whole Frankenstein series (he's now on the 4th book of the trilogy...) has been cr*p, actually. Really sickly-sweet relationship between our "heros", which has unbelievably got worse now they have a child.

That's a good point. When I was a kid (back in the 1970's) I often took part in the "Summer Reading" program through my local library. I'd have to set a goal for how many books to read over the summer. One time I think I set a goal of 150 and I went over. Course books for kids are slimmer than your average Stephen King or Tom Clancy, but I wager the average person could still read more than they think they could in a set amount of time.

I read one non-fiction book that was so dense that it took me a month to get through the 293 pages (plus it was a paperback, and I was struggling with having to hold it open and turn the pages :-) ) and then breezed through a young-adult fiction book with 384 pages that my daughter has been pressuring me to read in less than 4 days...

For the first time ever I've been keeping a log. I honestly don't care if I hit 100, but it is interesting to see how many pages I've read... I've been keeping track of the number of pages as reported by Amazon for the trade paperback version and since I got my Kindle in November I've read about 4500 trade-paperback page equivalents.

Counting audiobooks (I drive about 4 hours every weekend) I've read 13 books [about half read and half listened to] and have three in progress... yeah, I'm behind, but given my schedule I'm shocked that I've read as much as I have.

I'm doing a 100 ebook challenge, and I'm at 47 read so far. There are a few shorter selections in there along with a few longer ones (~500+ pages), and most of them are in between.

I'm not counting paper books (which include several nonfiction for work, and a ton of children's books for my kids).

I'm definitely behind on this challenge. Only 15 books so far for 2011! Unfortunately I wasn't able to do any reading from the middle of February to the beginning of this month. Work and studying for a state licensing exam was pretty much consuming my life! Demands on my time have lessened a little for now so I'm back to reading again!

Its all in my signature. I've considered lowering my goal to 50, but I think I just want to see my grand total at the end. I've been using the "READ 100 BOOKS IN 2011" rule where a book has to have a minimum of 150 pages. I do not know, however, if that rule still applies. If not, I have plenty of short stories that will allow me to catch up rather quickly, including a manga book like thing, which I have not included in my total. (I think it was just a sample, but it was not listed as such. i was not amused.)

I've mostly been following that rule, but I recently did the math, and my page count was showing an average of 308pgs per book, so I did not feel bad at all about throwing in a couple of shorter works (68pg & 133pg). I think it's perfectly alright to be fliexible as long as you stick to the spirit of it.

True.

I decided to use Caliber to look up and manually record (in a custom column) page numbers. Unfortunately, the difference between Caliber and the Kindle are huge. One book shows as being 239 pages in Caliber, but only 125 pages on the Kindle. So, technically it doesn't count, but I disagree.

I use the Goodreads page count unless it's obviously wrong or missing, in which case I go with the Kindle page count (from the calibre-generated page count file).

There was one three-in-one bundle recently where there was a problem with the file so calibre couldn't calculate it properly, but other than that, most of them have been close enough when I've bothered to check.

I'll have read 16 come tomorrow. I know it seems like I'm behind. But, I'm also reading the Honerverse series in chronological order and when I finish the shorts collections, my number will shoot up a bit.

I'm on book number 29 and should finish it tonight. I enjoy having a goal but I don't really think about that while I'm reading so it never feels like a task.
