Android all the way. I can change the icons, wallpaper, fonts, add custom widgets showing the time, date and weather. All resizeable to fit however I want on the screen. I can put all my apps into folders and keep all my stuff organized the way I like. I have widgets telling me how much battery I have left, and another to change the volume on all my notifications without having to access it through the settings. I use Widget Locker so I can add contacts right to my lock screen so I can call/text without having to unlock the phone first. I can change the keyboard anytime I want to. I have an extended battery which gives me 3 days of use. There is more but I can't think of anything else at the moment

I wouldn't consider buying anything from Apple. I've never really enjoyed being dominated by pompous nitwits and never felt the need to buy my way into cool.
I'm not a phone person but I do send text messages so I moved into the touch phones with onscreen keyboards. They're fine. My first was a Nokia with Windows 7. I like it but the phone is painfully slow for using Kindle for Windows 7 or calling us The Weather Channel. I got a Samsung Galaxy SIII mini to try out and the Android OS is much less elegant and clumsier to use but then I'm new to it, too. The phone itself is much, much faster than the Nokia. Right now, I suspect when I figure out how to use the Samsung I'll be passing the Nokia on to a nephew. |

I don't know. I have a few android devices and a few Apple devices. Both are good in their own way, but I suppose I find the limitations of apples devices less problematic for me than the limitations of Android devices. So I'd say I prefer Apple. I used to use Apple devices then switched to android and then ended up buying Apple devices again to augment my Android devices which I felt were lacking.

Iphone by a long shot. It all depends on what you need and what you need it to work with. I had an Iphone and an Android for a month each (borrowed) and if I needed a smartphone (I don't ordinarily), I would get the Iphone. Better selection of stable apps.
That said, if you need a smart phone for your job, the connectivity you must have may determine your choice rather than your personal preferences and that is usually an android of some kind. As mentioned, I don't NEED a smart phone. I have a cheapo phone with no monthly fee and rollover minutes. I have an Itouch that works with most things that I need. I do miss the mapping features of the android. It was more robust than what was available for the Iphone. I'll probably get a Garmin to make up for that. |

If the ship were sinking I wouldn't take a life jacket from Apple. So, my choice is between Android and Windows. I prefer Android right now but Windows has some very nice features.

I share your dislike for Apple as well but I would just like to state for the record that if my boat is sinking I would definitely take a life jacket from Apple or anyone else who happens to be handing them out!

I prefer iphone. But, nothing wrong with Android either. I don't need to play with my phone or customize it etc. I just need something that works for me and my iphone does that.

I had my eye on the Nexus 4 for a while and when it went on sale last month I snapped it up. I've never been comfortable with Apple's "walled garden" business model; to me it seems like "digital claustrophobia". But I wouldn't like to see Android have a complete monopoly, so having a few other players in the market keeps them competitive and is better for consumers in the long run. |

Well, I have an ancient (by tech standards) Android 2.1 phone, so I'm probably not in a position to cast my vote on this, but I do have lots of experience with recent tablets from both systems, and iOS simply cannot complete with Android as far as my needs are concerned.
The single biggest difference that makes Android the winner for me is access to the file system. Using EX File Explorer I can copy files back and forth from my tablet, to my FTP server, to my Sky Drive, and to my PC. And I can also delete and move files from all those locations with ease, as well as open files in whatever program I want. Not having even rudimentary access like this on iOS drive me up the wall. |

I have an Android phone. But I think I should root it then I can remove those pre-installed apps which I never use.
I always wondering what's the differences between Android and iOS? It seems that Android is more customizable. |

Well I think that's probably a big part of it. There are people who like things they can customize, and there are people who want things to do what they are supposed to do without having to fiddle with it.
