PM sent. As to why it isn't widely available, this was my response to a similar question before:

The image contains the Kobo firmware. At least part of that will be licensed. Parts of it is under one of the open source licences. As such, it shouldn't be made generally available. But, I consider making it available to people with the devices not a bad thing. If Kobo say something about it, that might change.

I've attempted to update the firmware for my Kovo Glo. I now just have a blank screen. I've tried Factory reset - no luck - just a blank screen. Could someone send me an image for a Kobo Glo. Hoping it works.

That worked. Beyond me that Kobo don't provide the image themselves. After all it was their update that caused the problem.
