You are welcome, and with a script and open with, it's two clicks, one to open the menu and one to resize, not one, but that's the best you are going to get, I'm afraid.

One workaround for this is to search the vendor's catalog system, download that image, and then add it via "browse." This is a particular problem at Amazon with books that have had more than one publisher (whether or not in different editions, but especially then), or whose title or author contains a non-US-standard keyboard character (whether a diacritical like an umlaut or even common symbols like the pound, euro, and yen signs), or are out of print (frequently "matching" only some single vendor's poor photo of a tattered cover imported from a used-book listing). This probably is not Calibre, but a character-coding issue buried under several layers of transferring data back and forth, and in how the relevant data is stored at the vendor (bitwise). It's not unique to Amazon, either — just that I've spotted it there more often.

This workaround is not 100% successful — only about 75%. Expanding to other sources, like WorldCat (https://search.worldcat.org/#advancedsearch), fills in an awful lot of the gaps, though. Download-plus-"browse for cover" is your friend for matching what's on the shelf without photographed coffee stains!
