And the motherboard and screen board are affixed together too firmly which, IN MY OPINION, allow the substrate glass to receive far too much stress in these 'flex' situations. Yes, I have cracked open both a Cybook and an EB-100 and they're exactly the same when it comes to the hardware and hardware mounting points.

Are you saying that the case of the Gen3/NB-100 are too flimsy? The case for the Kindle is ok? I know the 505 case is good. Never had the chance to see a Kindle up close.

How are your buttons? The Next page button on the right side of mine seems to be somewhat loose. It seems to jiggle around near the bottom part of it. It was like that when I got it, but it seems to be getting worse. I am wondering if I should write to support about it, but not sure if this is normal.

There's a tiny separation, it's not a single unit. Everything on the Kindle is much tighter and the plastic is sturdier and less fragile.

I do love the slimness of the Cybook, as well as the overall simplicity of the look. But while I'm not glad mine broke, I'm glad I opted to go for a Kindle to replace it.
I'm *not* happy about what I'm perceiving as less-than-sturdiness of the Netronix h/w. But I've got an EB100, a 64mb Gen3 and a 512mb Gen3. Rather much to be investing in *all-Kindle, all-the-time*. Especially with the next Kindle generation coming out so soon.

However, I popped for a titanium eCaddy (designed for the PRS500/505, but apparently big enough to fit a sans-softcover Cybook. ) I found on eBay. It ran me $29.75 including S&H so I'll see how it works out.

The 505 is pretty sturdy. It's not plastic. I cannot say if it is sturdier then a Kindle, but it's possible. It's definitely sturdier then a Gen3.

What "stresses" from holding it? I don't hold mine with enough pressure to crush a snowflake, let alone the screen.

I think the case is pretty good for spreading forces coming from pressing onto the device but have doubts about the case protecting from twisting. I also think the plastic chassis of the device is not strong enough to prevent twisting and so breaking. Also my case, bought from Cybook, is so loose that I must be careful how I pick it up or the device slides out. When I carry it around I slip it into one of those bag things that the iliad shipped with for a while. I am not afraid to carry the Gen3 round but I am careful.

Can you provide a picture of this eCaddy?
Thanks,

The Next button seems very tight. The on/off button, on the other hand, doesn't seem to fit well and would sometimes get kind of - lodged, somehow. I'd have to press it at exactly the right angle to make it work.

Thanks,

As I've pointed out several times already in various threads, the eCaddy can be found at eBay. But for those who're not grasping the concept of typing in www.ebay.com, here's a link to one of the listings. It has a decent shot of the interior down in the listing. http://cgi.ebay.com/Titanium-eCaddy-...QQcmdZViewItem
