There are only two different price points for all their books - in the UK they are either £2.99 or £4.99, with no way I can see of predicting which any particular book is going to be. I agree £4.99 (which I guess is the $9 price point) seems quite a lot for a 30 year old book, but the lower price feels reasonable to me (and I'd also pay the £4.99 for ones I want). Regarding the plain yellow covers with text, that's actually roughly how the original hardbacks looked - see http://www.ballardian.com/biblio-the-drowned-world for example.

Gollancz don't sell any of the books themselves - you buy them from Amazon, Waterstones etc at the price set by the publisher.
