I wouldn't safely assume that "customizable library organisation" equates folders. In fact, it seems the typical weasel word with which they smuggle some strange feature instead of what people actually want.

Right.
Just tried to inform what Sony offers.
Sorry about stealing your time writing a long answer. :-)

I did read it. I have certainly seen no definite statement from B&N that the new firmware will support folders. To equate "customizable library organization" to folders is a considerable step in the dark. Of course it may mean folders, but it may also mean something entirely different. Eg, the Kindle certainly has "customizable library organization", but it does not support folders.

Not to fret. My time is in the public domain so you can't steal it even if you wanted to. (Which would be a first; normally I can't give it away...)

The batteries are four AAs that are easily replaced in the field (unlike other readers that require a tiny screwdriver to replace the battery). You can use folders. It takes SD and SDHC cards. It reads a variety of formats, including e-pub. I'm not sure of this but I believe later versions will read Sony DRMed e-Pubs; you will have to check at the Ectaco forum on this.
I can read DRMed epubs from the Sony store on my new JBL.
