Yeah, it's a colloquialism that in print is easily transliterated to actual desire. And I think your point about his being mistaken is spot on. | |

I hate to armchair mod, but this little quip is from last year. It's over, done, discussed ad infinitum. Just let it go. |

Doesn't mean he's still not an asshole? He probably still thinks the same damn thing as he did last year. People as much of a jackass as him don't change.

I get his elitist perspective, though I don't agree with it. Growing up without much money, I still found ways to read plenty. As for wanting to hit someone, OK, as long as you don't act on it. Otherwise, I will do as much damage as possible to the offending party, especially if I'm packing. He made the statement; doesn't matter to me when he said it.

So, a year later, has he yet unleashed a rant against the owners of televisions, computers, video game systems, MP3 players, stereos, bicycles, cars, houses, and other elite toys?

Who's to say he wont? The only reason he made that non-apologetic "apology" was because people emailed his damn publishers. Same with celebrities. The ONLY reason they "apologize" is because they don't want to lose money.

				What an idiot.

I'm sure this guy will come around as ebook sales continue to climb. He won't want to miss out on that revenue stream. ESPECIALLY as the royalty percentages to authors are larger with much of the digital publishing realm. In any case, he sure made himself sound like a tool. I'm not even talking about the 'hitting a woman' part, but just his fear of ebooks in general. Sounds to me like people who used to rail against computers and "swear" they'd never give up their typewriters! |

Can we please just let this thread die a natural death? Whoever resurrected it should be forced to spend the day with Alexie. Anyway, as for this thread.... |
