Vegas is fun if you go there once in a while. For the last 20 years I lived a couple hours away from it. I got tired of it by my early 30s.

I like a good game of 5 card, stud or draw, and occasionally 7 card. I can count the cards, figure the odds and so on. all of these bullshit poker games they have going now or ridiculous. I won't play them

I like poker, but enough is enough.
I learned poker at family gatherings, and a couple of my cousins loved to play every screwy version. Mostly because they were cheating. I'm not much of a gambler, anyway. Don't really see the point.

Today:

had coffee and a muffin down the shops (muffin...awful!)
ordered some multifocal glasses and some sunglasses for TL1
looked for glasses and sunglasses for myself (I'm giving up, and going to start wearing glasses. I've actually been shortsighted about 20 years)
booked myself for an eye checkup (see above)
booked myself for a dental checkup (you get them once every 27 years, don't you?)
bought groceries, incl. dinner (Chicken Cordon Bleu...maybe, if TL1 feels up to making it)
now lounging around doing buggerall
time to walk the dogs

I was short sighted and wore glasses for 20 years and in 2008 had lazer surgery. Now I don't, but I can wear normal sunglasses again yippee. The downside is you realise how ugly you are because you can see yourself in the mirror, and you know how dirty the shower floor is.

Going to Coolum for dinner, but fancy chicken sounds nice, I'll sneak away.

Well about 4-5 years ago is about right.

30 - 31 feels a lot different than 25-29 when those years are spent in the military.

All those years feel young and the same. You don't start feeling old until about 42. Then you feel guilty for still being 12 in your head. But you do get better at hiding it. I don't know any other 44 year old women that play first person shooter computer games. Maybe I really am 12

How do you cope when you have to be "put under" Or are you like my friend who can't and has to have everything done "with pain"?

Not gonna happen.
They just numb the area.
Last time I went, dentist numbed wrong area. Told me to squeeze assistant's hand if I felt pain and started drilling.
Assistant hit him with tray when I damn near broke her hand.
