I asked because some dogs react badly to it. My uncle had a dog that destroyed a pair of leather gloves. While I was wearing them. Still have the scars.

kitten is incredible isn't she!? that's rather odd behaviour for a pup! I've never seen that reaction! wonder if they were poorly tanned or something?

He was different. My uncle found him when he was about 6 months old.
Never barked. Never growled. Howled like a rabid werewolf. Liked to run away for a week at a time. Always returned, smelling like a sewer. But he was usually gentle.

from me? personal observation. I've noticed that almost all animals react to poorly tanned leather. these (if you have encountered them) have a really unique smell. I tend to associate the smell with one town in Mexico where I know a lot of tanning was done, and you can get any leather item for a song, but they stunk to high heaven!!! occasionally you encounter the smell in the states on fairly cheap leather goods.
