HELP!!!

Hi Guys ...I'm so glad I found this site!! I'm an e-reader virgin and its been a disaster so far!!!! Am hoping you guys can help!

I have a Binatone e-reader and I can't load on to it.
I've download 3 books from waterstones succesfully to the 'digital editions' library, the reader shows as a removable disc on my laptop (vista) and I can move the books from DigEd to calibre to convert them to txt.

It all goes pear shaped from there - calibre doesn't appear to be 'seeing' my reader - and calibre is the programme that came with the reader. Plus - when I try to convert it says the book is DRM protected.

Calibre advise that provided the pc is authorised with Adobe (DigEd) then it should remove the DRM and work just fine. I've done the authorisation but I still can't convert or load anything.....

So I'm wondering if it a problem with the reader, a problem with the source of the ebook or the fact that I'm on Vista...

Any thoughts???

Hi Peacheywoo and welcome to MobileRead. Don't know anything about the Binatone readme but I expect many of our members do and will log on shortly with answers.

Thanks Cassidy - I found some reviews that basically said it wouldn't work without getting some possibly dodgy software so I took it back and now have a sony that appears to be working very nicely!!!

Hi Peachywoo. Peachywoo. I just love saying that. Or writing it, I should say. I'm glad you solved your problem. That's been the major stumbling block in my possible purchase of an e-reader. There are so many of them now. How can a beginner know which one is best. Hope you enjoy many happy hours with your new reader though.

Hi Peacheywoo & welcome to MR. Kinda glad you got a new reader with - hopefully lot less trouble - because I could not have helped with the problem.

But you made one comment that I am sure is not correct:

You would have to remove any DRM (which is a bad thing to do to a bad thing) yourself as I am sure Calibre does not remove DRMs for you.

But anyhow - lots of fun with your new reader

Good to have your company, Peacheywoo. Sony turns out some great wee readers. Good luck. Neil

Thanks Guys....

Katti......whichever way they said it it wasn't working and I refuse to keep something that won't do what its supposed to! The shop didn't question it - just exchanged it for my dinky Sony thankfully

Joyce - my name comes from a horse! I fell head over heels in love with her and broke my heart when she was sold.......but she's doing well and looks really good. So Peacheywoo is still with me in my screen name!

Welcome to mobileread ... rosey rosey ....

The Binatone is not a model I'm familiar with - You've seen the comments made by the original poster , above , others include posts here

What does Win7 'say' when the reader is connected ?
