Short answer is yes. Long answer is google 'ineptepub' and 'ineptpdf' then prepare to do lots of reading. The forum cannot provide step-by-step instructions on how to remove DRM from ebooks. |

Does anyone have a link to the Philadelphia Library's ebook collection? I've gone to the site and tried to search but have had no luck. The most I've come up with is the electronic check out of physical books.

They only have about 1,400 titles at this point. I've read the DC library has non-resident cards too and has about 7,000 titles, but haven't had time to actually check into it yet. | |

Someone had previously contacted them and they do offer the card to people outside the U.S. They only accept checks and only in US Dollars. Quote:

I see. Someone posted in another thread that you can get a non-resident card for $20, but I haven't found anything on their site about it.

Yes DC does have a great collection. Once you apply online you get an id number that can be used for 30 days. You have to visit the library to make payment and pick up your permanent card which will have a new ID number. It is a great collection and growing all the time. I check their new listings a couple of times a week. You can have up to 10 books out at a time which is way too many for me. Nice Spanish and French collection of titles. It is a spectacular way to avoid the new Agency Pricing Model. BTW, when I first sent an email to them I never heard back. I finally just called and was directed to the right person who gave me the scoop. Here is the link for card application. http://catalog.dclibrary.org/oureg/onlinecard.html Last edited by advocate2; 04-29-2010 at 04:07 PM. |

I mailed an application w/check to the Philadelphia library on 4/27 and have yet to hear from them. According to my bank account they haven't cashed the check. How long should I wait before I try calling to find out if they actually received the application? |

I mailed an application in about the same day, and they haven't cashed my check or sent me library card info either. I wonder if they had to cancel their non-resident card program the way NYPL did recently. Oh well, my local library finally got Overdrive and I figured out how to get the Sony software to pass a readable copy of the library book over to my 300, since ADE won't recognize the 300 on a MacBook. We don't have a lot of ebooks for our library, but some is better than none.
