Well, in my early life we were constantly reminded to hate the Soviet Union. After that fell, we spent years wondering who we were supposed to hate, touching on Lybia, Iraq and Japan (during their economic bubble when they buying up US property.) Now that a small but determined group of non-governmental fringe nuts managed to pull off an attack on the US, it provided us with a whole region of the world to hate! And the government (or at least, parts of it) never for a moment wants us to forget to fear, fear, fear, be afraid at every possible moment!

When I read the initial quote about promiscuous women, I couldn't help but think that Jerry Falwell, (of "gays and lesbians caused 9/11" fame), had been reincarnated as a Muslim cleric.

This discussion has stayed within the bounds of what I feel is fair play, for the most part. Disagreements have been aired, but name calling has not commenced. There are some marginal posts that seem to paint large groups of people with the same brush, but no one is rising to that particular bait. So, please continue to keep it between the signposts and we'll all get along.

Personally I am in favor of public displays of nudity. Male and female. We're all too hung up on being clothed.

Good point. It's always good to remember that the majority of Muslims are peace-loving and honorable by nature; same as Christians and Jews. It's the fanatics of every sect who ruin things for everybody.

Given that modern Israel wasn't founded till 1948, it can't be that long a history and it seems pretty unlikely that any of the other countries you mentioned learnt anything from them. Vice versa is much more likely.

I must answer, yes. And every politician of a certain pachydermical bent constantly and to this day pounds on how the politicians of a more equine nature should not be elected because they aren't sufficiently scared and lack the desired degree of rabid anger.
