The airports in northern France (including the Paris airports) are officially closed until at least 8 pm. And just to add to the "fun" there's a rail strike going on, just while all the Parisiens are starting the spring school holiday tonight! Most reports are saying 2 trains running out of 3 (thank goodness for "minimum service" rules during strikes), though it's apparently worse in the south of France.

It's also kind of weird here - bright, sunny sky, but the sky is a sort of neutral color - not really blue, but not gray or dark either. Reminds me a bit of Los Angeles back in the old smoggy days.

Seriously though, the Big Island is my favorite island, as long as I'm up wind of the volcano.

The view from the sulfur vents on Kiluea’s summit is awesome! To the point of being spiritual! One of my favorite places on Earth!

Ha, just think, by the time it gets to you, itʻs somewhat dissipated, right? And itʻs only every so often that you get it... I still think you get the good end of the deal by far

Actually, I love when I fly over there and I can actually *see* the mauna clearly. Itʻs something we donʻt see much these days- clear definition in the distance.

it is amazing to watch the plume, almost hypnotic. But all I can think of is that thatʻs whatʻs going into my lungs on an almost daily basis...

Just set off on a ferry from Dieppe to the UK after a 700km drive from Germany. Exhausted but happy to be getting home soon.

I was supposed to be flying to Sydney yesterday. But I'm at home with a cuppa at the moment.

I can't see the no fly zone being lifted until early next week. So we got on the phone and in just over an hour cancelled all our hotels and rescheduled the flights for 5 weeks time instead.

So she drove w/ a colleague to Dresden & took this morning a train to Frankfurt... she say's it's havoc (can I say that?) everywhere...

(she left Krakow yesterday at 10 am...we're talking stage coach average speeds here

)

The HST-network is quite developed in Europe, i found a good map of high-speed trains, anyone has experiences with the european trains ? Spain doesn't seem to be affected by this, but I guess your friend was flying via Paris?
