Volcanic ash is extremely fine - and gets into everything! Makes surfaces feel gritty even if you can't see the ash. We had to seal windows with that plastic you use in winter - but it still got into your house.

I just saw a photo of Gatwick terminal without a person in sight. Isn't that different! The only times I've been in there you could hardly breathe, much less move.
