				Quake!

Wow! I've been through a lot of earthquakes in California but this was the longest one I've ever felt! No damage but I wondered when it would stop. 6.9 |

I totally agree with you about wondering how long it would last. I have been in California for 27 years and that was the worst I remember.

I see that the epicenter was south of the border but it must have scared a heck of a lot of people in southern California. Little or no damage, I hope.

Earthquakes are about the scariest thing nature can throw at us. I lived in L.A. at the time of the Silmar quake (1971) and close to Kobe during the 'Great Hanshin Quake.' (1995) Talk about something that lasts an eternity! Watching things get thrown off shelves, sofa bouncing across the floor to the other side of the room, TV in pieces on the floor... Longest few seconds in my life! For nature, I much prefer Cherry Blossoms! Stitchawl |

Ooh, thatʻs scary stuff! We had one like that in ʻ06 and it was so freaky and long. Iʻm glad youʻre fine- hopefully everyone else fared as well!

All is good in my area but now it's been upgraded to a 7.2. Mexicali at the California/Mexico border seems to have quite a bit of damage. Maybe it's my imagination, but it feels like in the past year there have been more high magnitude earthquakes in populated areas than "usual". |

I did hear on the news this morning though that the number an severity of quakes (despite the recent media attention) is not above average for what experts predicted/expected. | |
