Hi,
Just found this site. I do Home Automation, Lighting control. Moving to touch screens and other methods of control. Hope I can get some questions answered and share what I know.

Glad you joined, Dave. Do you know Crestron? My parents have it installed at their home (to control audio / video, window blinds, lights, gates, etc.), and it could be quite nice - if the software had been done properly. Unfortunately, the people who installed it messed up quite a bit, both the programming and the hardware layout, so I don't know if I would ever want to recommend it to someone.

Alex,

I have assisted on several Crestron installs. Very expensive, especialy the Programming. I have a friend who programs, so that would not be a problem. but Crestron is more than I need. Right now I am looking for a small PDA or web brouser.
Thanks for the welcome,
Dave

You should look at the Nokia 770. It has a full Linux installation with a touch screen. You'd have your PDA with a web browser.
