It looks about half way between Jasper (the Rockies) and Edmonton (the Capital) on the main northern highway between BC and Alberta. I must have driven through it 3 times but I can't say as I remember it at all. The winters are probably a tad harsh but there's no provincial sales tax in Alberta. It looks to be a resource based economy with lumber, mines and oil/natural gas. It should be a decent place to live. Dunno. I have two nephews that moved to Edmonton from Vancouver Island to find work. About the same distance and latitude on the other side of Edmonton is where my grandfather homesteaded in Saskatchewan. It looks cute, the temperatures look decent all year round, you'd be close to extremely wonderful skiing stations (which, if I remember correctly, you love), there's space enough for the googlie and the Savannah, and it's home to the biggest slo-pitch tournament in Canada! What more could you ask for! The only downside, for now, is how slow their website is to load. Last edited by Verencat; 03-17-2010 at 11:53 PM. |

Seems to be some moose, elk and bear about Edson. We must have some members from Alberta who would be more knowledgeable about the area. Last edited by Wetdogeared; 03-18-2010 at 07:11 AM. | |

Well... me neither. Maybe the site exploded because to many of us tried to log in at the same time? The town looks beautiful anyway, KK, and I say that it all really depends of the job you would get there. |

So what is the opportunity? Online research is one thing, if you're really considering it I'd say a week long visit would be in order. |

On a sidenote, I probably would pack my "wellingtons". See? Naw, that's just the past, just kidding ( Mind you, after this frosty winter streets here in northern germany are so full of potholes that we are not far away from that picture over here now ...) |
