			Fair enough.  The only other thing I can recommend is just turning the touchpad off entirely when typing.  On some laptops there's a switch right above or somewhere around the touchpad to do that (usually has a light indicator to say whether it's on or off).  Might be inconvenient to have to keep flipping it on and off though.

			OK, disclaimer first: It's XP and it's german, but perhaps it will help. The one in "curcle" should be turned off - it says something like "hide cursor while typing". There is also an option to press Ctrl and see where the cursor is - the part with the "on (might help)" text. I have the same problem while trying to save a picture edited with GIMP. Does the disappearing occur only when you use a certain program? Good luck! P.S. I also wrote the post using ASCII and not binary code.   |

			LCF is absolutely right - I had forgotten about the "hide cursor" option.  The menu options should be under mouse properties or touch-pad properties in control panel.

			With some applications you can't see the cursor if you have the trails enabled.
